3 Quick Tips for Activating Your Kids in the Prophetic

3 QUICK TIPS FOR ACTIVATING YOUR KIDS IN THE PROPHETIC.png

Want to help your kids grow in the prophetic? If your child has ever felt frustrated in the prophetic or you’re not sure where to start, these three quick tips will help your kids confidently step into the prophetic.

It doesn’t have to be anything formal, I sometimes use these with my kids when we’re driving to school. I love these times because if you know what God is saying about the people in your family, then you see them and treat them according to what God says about them instead of anything else going on in the family at any given moment.

I use these three questions with my kids:

  1. “Let’s ask God for a quick picture.”

There’s no pressure or expectations, and I ask the kids to see who wants to go first. If Aero wants to go first, I ask him, “Ok! Ask God for a quick picture.”

2. “What’s the first idea that came into your mind?”

The key here is to ask this question very quickly after they ask God for a picture. A trap many parents fall into is asking something like, “What did God tell you?” The problem with this question is it creates a belief in our children that God only speaks English. They think if God didn’t speak out loud then He didn’t talk to them. This leaves our kids feeling like God didn’t say anything to them because our question made them think they didn’t hear God.

No matter what God says, whether He speaks a word, or shows a picture, or gives them an idea, they can recognize God is talking to them and answering their request.

3. “What do you know about that?”

The kids say what they know, and ask God what it means. For example, my son Aero saw landing gear for my daughter. I helped him interpret it with God. I asked him what he knew about that, and as he shared what he knew it became clear the word was about timing and knowing the correct timing for things just like landing gear has to come out at the right time to land safely.

These three quick questions can help you teach your kids to hear God’s voice in a way that’s no pressure and a lot of fun. Sometimes if you go first it helps break the ice and then they’re excited to go next. It’s so powerful to see them get words for each other so they can see them the way God sees them!
